In July 2007, a team of 25 adults and students traveled back to Nicaragua to continue work in the village of Candelaria.
The team also began working in the nearby "Plastic" village of Santa Matilde.
Santa Matilda is called a plastic village because the homes are primarily constructed of large sticks covered in heavy plastic.
When we first visited Candelaria in 2005, we had high hopes of adopting a village for continual work with teams from IHBC. It looks like Santa Matilde may well be that village! God is paving the way for us to adopt this village and to begin building a church, permanent housing, playground equipment and even a well with safe drinking water there!
During July, our team worked both in Candelaria and Santa Maltide. In Candelaria, we'll be building a stage in their church, teaching worship music and dance, working with children, performing medical and dental diagnosis and treatment and more. In Santa Matilde, we'll be passing out food to the villagers, showing a movie and constructing replacement housing for some of the plastic housing.
