Welcome! In 2006, A group from IHBC travelled to Candelaria, Nicaragua outside Leon. That group ministered to the people of Candelaria with the guidance and direction of Linda & Tommy Gable.
The Gables, from Asheville, NC began working with the people of Nicaragua several years ago and have since sold their belongings in the States hand have moved to Leon. Their ministry has grown to work with the village of Candelaria and surrounding villages.
That original team working in the villages passing out food, building tables and swings, playing sports and practicing dentistry. The team members came home with a new respect and longing to help the people of Northwest Nicaragua. In 2007, a second team traveled to the villages & began work in Santa Matilde, a village commonly called a "plastic village" because many of the houses are made from pieces of plastic bags and tarps. This team returned to the states with hope of beginning a longer term mission and possibly adopting the village of Sante Matilde.
Today, our mission continues primarily in the village of Sante Matilde. We are negotiating for the purchase of land on which to build a church and continue to work to fulfill the basic physical and spiritual needs of the people of the village of Santa Matilde.

Planning has already begun for future trips to the villages of Nicaragua. Future teams will continue the work begun in July when our team of 23 members built 4 "plastic houses", performed medical and dental clinics, worked with the children in the villages, led worship, led sports camps and more.
Please pray for our team as we minister to the people of Nicaragua!
