This scripture from Micah gives us hope and promises that Jesus will restore Israel as the homeland of his chosen people. It also promises us that Jesus will be our shepherd and lead us into eternal life with Him if we follow and honor Him in all we do.  He is our Savior and the Prince of Peace. (Micah 5:2-5a)

Thought for the Day:

Are you feeling stressed this holiday season?

From preparing meals, decorating homes, making lists and checking them twice, we stress ourselves out trying to do it all.  Many times we get caught up in the moment and forget the reason we celebrate.

Micah told of a promised ruler from Bethlehem. We celebrate the birth of our Savior that was born in Bethlehem, Jesus.  Micah said that he would “stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord.” He also said that “he will be their peace.”  That word “peace” brings much joy to my heart.  I know that because of Jesus, the good word of God he spread and his ultimate sacrifice, I can have peace.

As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, may your life be filled with the knowledge that Jesus can bring you peace each day.  Go to Him in times of need and times of joy and He will fill your life with peace.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your son Jesus to be our Shepherd.  Help us remember during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, that the birth of the Prince of Peace is the reason we celebrate.  Through His ultimate sacrifice, we have everlasting life.  Let us glorify the name of Jesus, Amen.
